Find new contacts after using Email2Log

Recently, I have been adding new contacts to JibberJobber via email. It’s one of the best features we have. I simply find someone I want to insert into my system, send them an email, hide my ultra-secret email address, and if that person isn’t in my database, they’ll be added (along with the email content as the first log entry).

If you don’t know what I’m talking about (a) you’re missing out on this and (b) you need to watch a video for this post (Email2Log – here’s Part 3 where I talk about how to do it).

Anyway, back to how I found that person. I send them an email but keep their LinkedIn profile so I can take their picture, title, location, etc. When I create a contact record using Email2Log, I only add my first name, last name, and email address.

Normally, my contact list bar is organized, so the last contacts I’ve entered appear at the top of my list. But sometimes it’s not ordered that way… And sometimes I feel like it takes a long time to arrive and then order again, or delete a filtered search or something like that (yes, I’m so impatient).

I found a better place to find a new contact.

Instead of going to the contact list bar, I hover over Messages, and then click the Log Entries and Action Entries message.

Whenever you use Email2Log, you create a log entry so that it appears in this report (which is a list bar).

I have this report sorted so that I can see the most recent log entries or stock entries at the top. I simply come across this message and see if the email is on top. I’m showing the Contacts column (if you don’t see it, click the Manage Columns icon

and add it) and I simply click on the person’s name and it takes me to the details page.

Email2Log is in a 5-minute cycle, so it may take a few minutes for it to appear, but this is my fastest way to get to the newly created contact record so I can put more details into the record. For some reason, I like that I do it this way, instead of going through the contact list panel.
